Larynda De’Endar

Larynda De’Endar was the Matron Mother of House De’Endar during its brutal rise from sixth to fifth among Felynafay’s noble houses. Known for her cunning and ruthlessness, she played a pivotal role in shaping the power dynamics of the Underdark and in the early life of her youngest son, Masdrin.

Larynda ascended to the title of Matron after the rare natural death of her mother. Her rise was solidified when she hired *The Barra D’aron*—under Durdrin's command—to eliminate her rival sisters. With no remaining competition, she claimed leadership and began rebuilding House De’Endar’s influence.

She bore several children from different consorts, including Vielyn, fathered by the noble Viezere, and Masdrin, fathered by Durdrin himself. Her alliance with Durdrin was both personal and tactical, granting her access to one of the most feared mercenary forces in the Underdark.

Larynda ruled with a mix of seductive manipulation, political marriages, and ruthless betrayal. She orchestrated power moves through her children, even adopting Zeera into the house—only to later poison her out of jealousy and control.

While she groomed Masdrin for high status, she also used him as a tool, exploiting his charm and lineage. Her betrayal of Vielyn—stealing his lover and their child—was one of many selfish acts that ultimately led to her downfall.

Larynda's fate was sealed when her lies and manipulations reached a breaking point. Her children, led by Jhule, confronted her with the truth of her crimes. She was formally sentenced to death, and Vielyn carried out the execution by snapping her neck.

Her death marked a turning point for House De’Endar. Maya assumed the title of Matron, supported by Masdrin and protected by the full weight of the Barra D’aron.

Though Larynda’s reign ended in betrayal, her legacy echoes in the political reshaping of Felynafay—and in the scars she left on those she called family.

Durdrin: Her consort and occasional lover. Their relationship was laced with power play, reluctant affection, and tragedy. Durdrin was devastated upon learning of her death.

Jhule, Maya, T’rissdra, Cazna, Baeda: Her daughters, all raised in the cold fire of Drow politics. Some remained loyal until the end, others turned against her to save the house.

Though reviled by some and feared by many, Larynda De’Endar was undeniably effective. She reshaped House De’Endar’s future, gave birth to one of the most powerful Drow in surface history, and reminded Felynafay that even Matrons can fall to their own kin.
