Antzar De'Endar
Antzar De'Endar was a son of Matron Larynda De'Endar and a half-brother to Masdrin De'Endar. He served as an enforcer for House De'Endar, answering directly to his mother, Matron Larynda, and his older brother Vielyn De'Endar, the house weapon master. Antzar initially enjoyed favored status within the family but lost prominence after Masdrin’s birth, due to Masdrin's prestigious paternal lineage as Durdrin’s son.
Life and Role in House De’Endar
Before Masdrin's birth, Antzar enjoyed significant favor from Matron Larynda. However, after Masdrin was born—fathered by Durdrin, the leader of the powerful Barra D’aron mercenary company—Antzar’s prominence was eclipsed. Masdrin’s lineage made him far more strategically valuable, leading to a noticeable shift in familial favoritism. Antzar, though still important, saw his influence significantly diminished.
Attempted Poisoning and Execution
Antzar attempted to poison Masdrin when Masdrin was five years old, acting out of fear of the potential Masdrin represented. This act ultimately led to his execution. Matron Larynda commanded Masdrin himself to execute Antzar, placing Masdrin in a position to demonstrate absolute loyalty. During this execution, Antzar fought back fiercely, severely injuring Masdrin before succumbing to the younger brother's blade.
Antzar’s Dagger
Antzar’s personal dagger became a symbolic artifact within House De'Endar following his death. Matron Larynda presented this dagger to Masdrin after an unrelated disciplinary incident. This gesture served as both a subtle threat and a grim reminder of Antzar’s fate. Masdrin kept the dagger hidden beneath his pillow and carried it concealed in his armor, later wielding it explicitly when confronting the physician who poisoned Zeera.
Eventually, Masdrin passed Antzar’s dagger on to Durdrin, further distancing himself from its ominous implications. Durdrin, understanding its symbolic power, gave the dagger to Vielyn, ensuring its continued presence as a reminder of familial betrayal and consequences.
